Wonder Night: Shaping Future Chiropractors

By Dr Barry Smith – Karrinyup Wellness Centre

Inspiring the Next Generation of Chiropractors: Highlights from the Recent Wonder Night

At Karrinyup Wellness Centre, we are passionate about caring for the health and wellbeing of our community and helping shape the future of chiropractic care.

We recently had the pleasure of hosting another Wonder Night, bringing together 4th and 5th year students for an inspiring evening of learning and mentorship, with a special focus on paediatric chiropractic care.

Expert Insights into Paediatric Chiropractic Care

The evening gave students the opportunity to learn from four highly respected chiropractors who share a passion for caring for infants, children and families.

We were delighted to welcome Dr Ashleigh Bond and Dr Scott Campbell-Lloyd, both of whom have made significant contributions to chiropractic education and bring extensive experience from their respective practices. Two of our chiropractors, Dr Kylie Arthur and Dr Amity Hawke-Linsley, presented alongside them, sharing their rich clinical knowledge and enthusiasm.

Together, they covered essential aspects of paediatric practice, including:

  • Detailed clinical assessment
  • Recognising when referral is appropriate
  • Communicating effectively with parents
  • Building the clinical judgement needed when transitioning from university into practice

Bridging the Gap Between Academics and Practice

While university provides the academic foundations, learning from experienced practitioners helps bridge the gap between study and clinical care.

By supporting and inspiring the next generation of chiropractors, we help build a stronger profession and ultimately ensure better care for the families and communities we serve.

Celebrating Chiropractic Mentorship and Community

A huge thank you to Ashleigh, Scott, Kylie and Amity for generously giving their time. We are incredibly proud to have Kylie and Amity as part of our Karrinyup Wellness Centre team, and seeing them contribute to the development of future chiropractors is something worth celebrating.

Here’s to the next generation of chiropractors and to the wonderful mentors guiding them along the way!
