Dr Shinae’s Goal for My 2023

I really want to read more, I love learning, I love applying my learning and I love sharing it with patients. I admit, I have never been very diligent at putting time into reading but I do want to do more of it. My goal for this year is to read more but given my habits aren’t very strong to start with, when I had Dommy it made it feel almost impossible. I was desperately trying to find time to read in peace, so I can focus and learn. Night time I’m exhausted, the cleaning is there, our business has never-ending needs, there is prepping for tomorrow, and then, my darling husband I try to stay present with after Dommy goes down. So as much as I’d like it to be in peace, that’s not really a reality for me in this phase of life. I worked this out because even while camping over the break, I didn’t get to read much. In my head, it was the most ideal time to do some reading but I got barely a few pages in. 

Even as I write this, I’m throwing balls, toilet training, putting stickers onto paper, protecting the dogs from being pulled at and also I am being sat on! But I keep my book close by, because even an interrupted page is a micro step towards my goal to read more. I know these times where Dommy wants to sit with me all day will pass and I will very much miss it and I also still want to focus on my goals even if they take a while. So I shall remember these times are only temporary and achieve what I can. My unrealistic goals of reading a whole book in a reasonable amount of time is something I have adjusted and accepted that page by page I will get there and technically it is still more than before.  

Note: Today I relearned that sleep is so important and it needs to be a top priority so I shall share this with you too. Get to sleep on time and make sure the bedroom climate is right. If you have any questions on this come say Hello at the Wellness Centre!
