Ways to create and maintain a calmer brain It is time to talk about self-regulation and vagal tone. Self-regulation is the ability for us to calm, settle, focus, inhibit/stop and motivate our minds. It also plays an important role in how we cope with stress. The vagus nerve is one of our 12 cranial nerves.
